Bart M. Schwartz is the President of The Police Athletic League (PAL) and Chairman of Guidepost Solutions, a leading investigations, compliance, monitoring, and security and technology consulting firm. 

The PAL Board of Directors appointed Bart M. Schwartz, who has been actively working with the organization for a number of years, as its new President in January 2023. Mr. Schwartz has previously served on its Board and his long history of work with PAL is a testament to his commitment to the organization’s mission and its values. Thousands of children have come to PAL for a wide range of programming and over the years and Bart is committed to continuing to advance PAL as a standing community beacon, facilitating healthy and long-lasting relationships with the police community.
 
For more than 30 years, in his professional career, Mr. Schwartz has managed complex investigations, prosecutions and security assessments. He served as the Chief of the Criminal Division in the Southern District of New York where he was responsible for overseeing prosecutions related to financial and business fraud, organized crime, narcotics, and other types of criminal activity. Mr. Schwartz was also a partner in a New York law firm specializing in federal civil and white-collar litigation and was appointed as a Deputy Special Prosecutor in the investigation of a Presidential Cabinet Officer.

Mr. Schwartz has extensively lectured and written on the topics of investigations and monitorships. Over the course of his career, he has been appointed to monitor the conduct of companies hired to clean up the World Trade Center; four treaty negotiations involving trafficking boys as camel jockeys into the UAE; MWBE program for a construction company; and General Motors’ compliance involving the recall of defective ignition switches, among others. He currently serves as the Federal Monitor over the New York City Housing Authority to which he was appointed by HUD.

Mr. Schwartz is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. Compliance Week recognized him with its Excellence in Compliance Award. He is also on City & State New York’s Law Power 100 list three years in a row, 2023 50 Over 50 Age Disruptors list, and the National Law Journal’s Trailblazers in Crisis Communications. In 2022, The American Lawyer named Mr. Schwartz a Top-Rated Lawyer.

Mr. Schwartz grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his J.D. from New York University Law School. He also serves on the Board of Directors for philanthropic organizations, as well as the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Board of Directors.
