CARDINAL TIMOTHY M. DOLAN

ARCHBISHOP OF NEW YORK
Timothy Dolan, born on February 6, 1950, was appointed Archbishop of New York by Pope Benedict XVI on February 23, 2009, after serving as Archbishop of Milwaukee from June 25, 2002.
The first of five children, he began his education in Missouri, continued through seminaries in Saint Louis, and completed his priestly formation in Rome, where he earned a theology degree.
Ordained in 1976, Dolan pursued a doctorate in American Church History, served in parish ministry, and held positions in education and for the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C. He was named Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis on the 25th anniversary of his ordination and later became a cardinal on January 6, 2012.
Dolan has held various leadership roles within the Catholic Church, including chairman of Catholic Relief Services and president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. He participated in the Conclave that elected Pope Francis in 2013.
